Fountain in
the
central square |
The objective of this project is to enable a user to browse collections of bookmarked web sites as though they were a neighborhood of a town.
Only one sample is currently available.
To view the sample, you must have installed a VRML browser. If you don't already have a VRML browser, you can download and install the Cosmo VRML browser for Windows (free, but you'll be asked to register). When installing the Cosmo browser it is IMPORTANT to select the checkbox for "Other (unsupported browsers)", then (on the following screen) the checkbox(es) for the browser(s) you are using.
If you have a Macintosh, see the resource links at the Mac Web3D organization. [There is a Cosmo browser for the Mac, but it's been reported to us that it doesn't work with anything later than OS 8.2.]
If or when you have a VRML browser installed, you may tour the example neighborhood. To get around in the Cosmo browser, press and hold the mouse button over a pavement area and drag the cursor toward the top of the screen. The distance you drag determines your speed of travel, and the direction from the initial mouse-down point determines the direction in which you travel. Clicking on the doors of the houses will take you to the various bookmarked sites.
