Factors that make a world seem more real

• Big world
• Books within the world
• Politics
• Flow of world events. The sense that world events are unfolding external to the character, especially if the course of those events affects the character in some ways. (e.g. seasons affecting possible travel modes and routes)
• History. Events unfold because of past events. Current events have historical backing.
